Why this site exists
Search for snorkeling in Zanzibar and you get nine spots described as if they were interchangeable, prices quoted without the money you hand over at the boat, and dolphin swims sold with no mention of what happens when thirty hulls converge on one pod.
None of that is secret. The $22 collected at the Prison Island pier is written into the operator's own booking notes. The $44 insurance every visitor buys is on the government's portal. The candid line about boats surrounding dolphins "in a way that can resemble hunting" is printed on a listing that we compare. Putting those facts next to the price is the entire job of this site.
Where the facts come from
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions, age limits and cancellation terms are read off each operator's own listing on the date shown on the page, in US dollars. Every tour page carries the same fields in the same order. Tour listing checked: August 2026.
Conservation charges, entry fees and the mandatory Zanzibar insurance are checked against official information and against the operators' own booking notes, then dated where they appear. Where an operator admits something inconvenient in its own words — such as the warning that other boats crowd the dolphins — we quote it rather than smooth it over. Review quotes carry the reviewer's name, country and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.
What we do not do
We do not inspect the reefs, ride the boats, meet the crews or audit safety records. Judging whether the current at Tumbatu is manageable on a given morning takes someone in the water, and that is a job for the company you book with.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells through. They hold the reservation, take the payment and set the cancellation terms; we have no authority to change any of it.
Where the reef notes come from
The descriptions of each reef — coral condition, what you will realistically see, why Mnemba is crowded, why Chumbe is capped at fourteen visitors a day — draw on published spot surveys, conservation-area information and the pattern across a year of dated traveller reviews.
When sources disagree, we say so. Operator listings quote sea temperatures of 25 to 29°C year round; an independent spot survey records 22 to 24°C from July to September. Both figures appear on the site, with the disagreement stated rather than averaged away.
How the site earns
Through affiliate commission on bookings made via our links, at no extra cost to you. It does not decide which trips appear, the order they sit in or what is said about them — the cheapest trip in the catalog earns the least and is recommended to families, and the trips we flag hardest are flagged in full view.
